Our paddling adventure begins inside the Whiskey Creek Hideout in Dania Beach, Florida, at Dr. Von D. Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park. Your guide will provide insight into local history while pointing out the multitude of animals that reside inside the park's borders.

Along with learning about the local history and seeing wildlife, we will make several stops throughout the tour to allow for water/snack breaks (Snacks not complimentary but available for purchase at our center).

Sunset Tours

Kayak or paddle board? You get to choose which one to paddle for our weekly Friday sunset tour at Mizell-Johnson State Park! We launch from the Whiskey Creek Hideout, gliding through a peaceful mangrove trail and out into the calm waters of the intercoastal waterway to watch the final sunset.

Adult Participant - $40
Youth Participant 12 and under - $30 (Must be accompanied by an adult. Must choose "Tandem Kayak" option only.)

What is the Eligibility Criteria?

In order to participate in this program, one:

Everyone using rental equipment must wear a life jacket at all times.
Must not exceed the manufacturer’s weight limit for the vessel (450 lbs. tandem kayak or 275 lbs. single kayak).
Must have the ability to follow verbal and/or visual instructions independently or with the assistance of a companion.
Must have the ability to wear a properly fitted personal flotation device.
Must have the ability to enter and exit the kayak independently or with the assistance of a companion or with the use of adaptive equipment.
Must have At least one person in the kayak with the ability to move it through the water in a stable manner and return it to the launching area.
Must have the ability to tolerate 80 degree Fahrenheit water and bright sunlight for 1.5 hours.
In the event of capsize, one:
Must have the ability to get out from under the watercraft independently.
Must have the ability to right oneself and remain face up in the water with the aid of a personal flotation device.

Enhanced community safety guidelines

New cleaning and social distancing procedures
Required to wear a mask until on you/your party is on the water
Bring a zip loc bag to keep your mask dry

Great staff at the watersports rental, reasonable rental rates, cold beer for after, hidden gem in the middle of busy Fort Lauderale. I recommend staying in the creek and skipping the Intracoastal unless you really love seeing big ships.

Really like the seclusion of this place. Not swamped with a brunch of tourist nor spring breakers!! Lots of grill and bench areas. Restaurant on site is very convenient - restaurant staff could work on their customer service skills.

We had such a blast! Our whole group was kayaking for the first time. The boys were both so nice and truly helpful. No one fell in or got hurt. We didn’t see any alligators or sharks 🤣 but we’re told that sometimes you can see manatees and turtles. Genuine great experience! I cannot wait to do it again . The hideout beach is very cute, clean and quiet. Seems like no one actually knows to go there. Found my new beach spot !!
